Duke Health finalized its
$248 million purchase
Of the Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, assuming control of the Mooresville facility on Tuesday.
The facility was formally rededicated as Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital during an event held on Tuesday afternoon.
Duke Health
approved the purchase of the 123-bed hospital from Tennessee-based Community Health Systems back in December.
The Lake Norman Regional Medical Center provides round-the-clock emergency treatment, obstetric services, cardiovascular care, surgery, orthopedics, and an outpatient imaging facility. This relocation represents a considerable growth in Duke Health’s offerings beyond the Raleigh region.
“It’s a thrilling day for Duke Health and the Lake Norman team,” remarked Craig Albanese, CEO of Duke University Health System (DUHS). “The road ahead looks promising, and we’re eager to bring the exceptional standards and pioneering spirit of Duke Health to elevate the quality of care provided at Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital and our clinics.”
Approximately six months before Duke Health acquired the hospital, Novant Health had decided against purchasing both Lake Norman Regional and Davis Regional Medical Center located in Statesville.
Novant withdrew from the agreement.
