Gupta stated in an email release that similar to Amazon, Manatt is “intensely dedicated to achieving significant impact at scale” to tackle issues crucial for patients across the country. These challenges include accessibility to healthcare services as well as leveraging artificial intelligence precisely when needed.
For Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, Gupta’s departure signifies yet another significant exit from the company’s healthcare divisions. Just last week, One Medical announced that CEO Trent Greninger is stepping down.

He will resign from his position as head of the primary care division in April, having held the role for fewer than two years. In 2023, Amazon purchased One Medical for $3.9 billion, approximately five years following their acquisition of the online pharmacy PillPack for around $750 million.
Apart from his responsibilities in the pharmacy sector, Gupta took on various roles during his five-year tenure at the firm, such as leading the COVID-19 response efforts and serving as the chief medical officer for new products within Amazon’s devices and services division.
Gupta came onboard at Amazon just prior to the launch of its pharmacy services, which originated from the PillPack acquisition in 2018. As the chief medical officer, Gupta assisted with introducing a prescription benefit for US Prime subscribers known as
RxPass
and broadened its initiative for
